TEAM ROLES

Our teams consist of providers, nurses, interpreters, and pharmacy assistants. Each team generally consists of 3-4 providers, 2 nurses, 3-4 interpreters, and 2 people who work in the pharmacy.

Providers: Licensed doctors, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants examine patients and provide primary care including diagnosis, education, and medication management.

Nurses: RN’s, LPN’s, CMA’s, and EMT’s work together to check in patients. Their role includes measuring vital signs, providing wound care, checking blood sugars, and conducting basic triage for the providers.

Interpreters: Interpreters also support non-Spanish speaking team members during different phases of the mission trip, such as assisting with Customs documents when arriving into Mex. or Guat., shopping, ordering food, using ATM, communicating with hotel personnel, assisting  other team members in communicating with patients and clinic coordinators, drivers etc.

Pharmacy assistants: Although no medical training is necessary, they work hard at learning the “MDP pharmacy system” doing the crucial work of maintaining all drugs, drug labels and other supplies well organized and inventoried thus ensuring the smooth flow of the overall clinic work.
