San Juan Luciana

The high pitched sound of Guatemalan cicadas greeted us as we pulled into San Juan Luciana this morning. A new community for MDP, although as a first timer it is all new to me! The clinic went smoothly and the three clinicians saw 58 people, assisted by a team of MDP and local health promoters. One woman actually apologized for asking so many questions, she said the doctors do not come much to this community. She was grateful. Antibiotics and omeprazole and reading glasses were dispensed and my reward was a smile, a hug, a kind word. I feel I received the better end of every interaction.
