Ready to Launch
Hello all, and thank you for following along with MDP’s updates of our October trip to
Guatemala. Many of you may know this, but this is only MDP’s second trip since the start of the
COVID-19 pandemic - the first was to San Lucas in March of this year. Those of us who are
returning are excited to see the growth and change that has occurred in San Lucas and the
surrounding communities in the last several years while getting to experience the amazement of
seeing San Lucas for the first time through our team members who have not yet traveled there.
Let me introduce you to the team members:
Our Providers
Susan Peller
Nancy Linder
Rodrigo Garcia
Our Nurses
Maggie Peller
Sara Murry
Our Lab
Colette Meidinger
Our Pharmacy Assistants
Ron Pederson
Barb Pederson
Our Interpreters
Carmen Garcia
Sarah Peller
Yes, we are aware that it is a Peller-heavy trip - for those of you unfamiliar, Susan Peller co-
founded MDP in 2006 and is the current president of the board. I am Sarah, her oldest, and am
thrilled to be able to travel back to San Lucas with both my mom and cousin Maggie! I was a
Long Term Volunteer in San Lucas through FOSL from August 2017 to July 2018 and cannot
wait to return to one of the places I consider home. For now, our meds and supplies are packed
(though perhaps our personal suitcases are not quite so ready for travel) and we eagerly await our
Saturday morning flights. The team’s next blog post will be from San Lucas! ¡Nos vemos!
